Wow. It seems that for the past four years there has been a massive exploit in Eve Online that has allowed players to produce billions of ISK. How big are we talking about?
"The expanse of this so far is probably lost on most people so I would like to make a few facts clear. In the past 4 jears we are talking about ISK in value of 2.500.000.000.000 ISK to 3.000.000.000.000 ISK. That’s 2500 – 3000 billion. Everyone that owns a T2 item can bet that it was build in part from resources due to this phenomenon. At this point I would like to thank CCP for making it possible to buy GTC’s with ISK."
3,000 billion! This is interesting as Eve Online (CCP) is the only game that has an official in-game staff economist. You would have thought he would have noticed an extra 3,000 billion ISK lying around!
For those of you that don't play Eve almost all of the major highly valuable items are created by other players (and the really large ones by "corporations" of players pooling thier resoruces together). Well the stations that were used to create these top items more or less would create them for free (without any resources). As such it artifically drove down the price of these items. Since the exploit has been fixed the price of the items has skyrocketed!
Here's a chart showing the increase in item prices over the past few days since the exploit was patched.
Question: How much of this ISK do you think was sold for out-of-game profit?
